TOUCH

Hey everyone! Nicky here 🙂

I decided to create a quick little exploration of touch, specifically looking at the meanings behind touch; positive, negative, playful, symbolic, and seductive.

About Andrew Bromfield

Hey everyone! Nicky here 🙂

I had the amazing opportunity to produce the “About Andrew Bromfield” video for Formative Innovations Inc., a design firm I worked at over the summer.

Please have a watch and enjoy!

Feminist

Hey everyone! Nicky here 🙂

This past semester, I made a pretty “edgy” video for my expressive typography class.

In the video, I explore the meaning of Feminism for me as a woman in my world. I have always had an insecurity with my body, which started probably the beginning of 7th grade. I have small breasts, bigger hips, a wider waist, a bump in my nose, which made me feel extremely unattractive. The perfect image of what a woman should look like has always haunted my mind, to the point of these thoughts becoming obsessive. This made my self-esteem decrease.

Now, after reflecting on who I am and how people actually perceive me, I see now that I am beautiful because I am my own person. This video is a reflection of my journey to finding my inner woman.

Silence of the Lambs – Title Sequence

Hey Everyone!

This week is my final week of the first duration of summer school and I’m quite exhausted!
6 weeks really goes by so fast it’s unbelievable…

In my Graphic Narrative, Animation, and Motion, our final assignment was… you guessed it… a Title Sequence!

With this being my 3rd title sequence project at OCAD, I wanted to create something with more depth and raw footage. Also, I wanted to pick a film out of my comfort zone… HORROR!

I picked a pretty well known film called Silence of the Lambs, mainly because the original opening credits for the film is pretty DREADFUL!

So here’s my title sequence:

Nuit Blanche 2013

Hey!

Last night in Toronto, October 5th to 6th aka sunset to sunrise, Nuit Blanche took over the streets with incredible installations and TONS OF PEOPLE! As a Torontonian, it was my first time attending this well-known event. Actually, when I told my friends this fact, they laughed in amazement and thought I was joking (sadly I wasn’t).

Anyways, regardless of having never gone before, I like many others, wandered the streets downtown to see creations that were made just for the event.

Also, it was a good opportunity to try out my new camera! This past week, I made the trip to Vistek and purchased a Canon EOS 70D camera 🙂

Here are the results from last night:

Photo Shoot

I’m bored.

Plain and simple.

By not doing any work or school, I’m left with nothing to do. No activities, tasks, or adventures really. I have to come up with things myself so I’m not staring at a computer or television screen for hours on end.

Time for a new project for myself.

That is when I decided to do a photo shoot.

What I wanted for this shoot was pictures of myself in intense make-up, something similar to my alter ego photo shoot I did. (check out my Black Swan post https://findingharmonyinartanddesign.wordpress.com/2012/08/07/black-swan/ for more details on that).

Here are some shots I took without makeup (actually I have eyeliner on but not a lot) and with a Canon SLR Digital camera:
