Love Somebody Music Video

Hey everyone! Nicky here 🙂

I am a big fan of Maroon 5. I remember getting their first album on my 10th birthday and haven’t stopped listening to their music since. However, I haven’t been a tremendous fan of their music videos. That is until I watched their music video for Love Somebody:

The overall concept really sets the tone of the song and the visual effects used for the video are spot on. After doing some more research, I was able to find some information on how the video was produced. They had each person dress in white clothing and stand in front of a white background while being covered in blue paint.

Based on the making of the video, I figured that they isolated the paint using After Effects by keying out the color that there’s a hole in the footage. Then duplicate the layer and use it as an inverted track matte on the original footage, so the paint is left in the footage.

I would like to try and achieve a similar effect as an experiment. Although… getting someone willing to be covered in paint and not make a huge mess… we will have to see! 🙂

Hey everyone! Nicky here 🙂

For almost 2 months now, I have been working as a Contributor for TasteToronto, an online food publication about the various food spots in the Toronto area. While I was looking through the website, I noticed a link to apply for a job position and decided to send them my resume. Sure enough, they contacted me and offered me an internship.

I have written a few articles now that have been posted on the website! Check them out here:

The mighty 100

Hello my lovely readers!!

Now, I’m starting school again very soon, Sept 5th to be exact, so more exciting experiences will happen and be shared here. Hopefully you all will keep reading and supporting my blog. Thank you all 🙂

Time for me to kick some blogging butt

New Header??

During my lunch break at work yesterday while I was munching on the salad I had brought, I thought about my blog. If you hadn’t noticed already, my followers have gone up in number and more people are reading my posts (just from looking at my site stats and the likes on each post).

I have been debating for a while if I should change up the look of my blog, personalize the header a little more (maybe add some pics of me).

So, here are the fonts I’m thinking of using if I do change my header:

Working Girl (Life in a Corporate Job) Part: 1

Hey there fellow readers!

Recently, I was going through my blog posts and noticed something of a shock to me… I HAVE NOT IN ANY OF MY BLOG POSTS MENTIONED MY 2013 SUMMER JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!
(This may be because I’m a pretty modest individual, but in this case I’m just going to brag a little so bear with me).

This summer, I luckily landed a job as a summer student at Manulife Financial in Toronto. Basically, this large life insurance company operates in Canada and Asia as “Manulife Financial” and in the U.S.A through its John Hancock division.

At this point, you may be asking yourself, “What is a Graphic Designer doing in an insurance company??” Believe me, a few people have asked me that question.

Let me explain.

I am working in the Marketing Department of Manulife Financial, but with the Creative Team!

What does the Creative Team do?

They create the necessary design elements someone in the department may need. For example, someone could ask for a booklet or a flyer or a poster and the Creative Team will put it together.

However, since I am a summer student who just started working last week, I’m editing typographical changes to documents, setting up documents for production, and securing pdf files.

I’m sure more is to come while I’m a Working Girl so I’ll keep posting about the job.

C for Crayons

This is a post I’ve been meaning to put up for sometime but have completely forgot to do this.

I have put this off for too too long!

This is something you should know about me, in terms of my blogging anyway. On some occasions, there will be a blog post that I want to write, let’s say one about kittens. I will get excited to write this post about kittens… but then… I get distracted… Usually it’s not my fault. School comes in the way and that comes first in my mind (sorry blog followers but you guys come second).

Finally here is my post about another project I completed for my Typography class, actually a project I did before my Logo of my Initials. The task was to create a 3-Dimensional sculpture of the letter of your last name (in my case I had the letter C) using any medium you wanted.

I decided to use crayons! So I went to the Dollar Store, picked up some crayola crayons, and made this:

C for Crayon

Got an ‘A’ on this assignment so I’m quite pleased with the results 🙂
