This summer so far has been a mix of relaxation and a good amount of hard work. At my summer placement at Formative Innovations Inc. the skills that I am gaining and the work I have completed is amazing! From projects such as web design, branding, video production, editing, and layout design, I worked hard to complete them while acquiring new techniques and ways of thinking.
With this being said, I am able to place some of the work I did on my portfolio, including a few web pages I drafted and helped develop.
I am pleased to say that my digital painting skills are starting to improve. From watching endless amounts of tutorials and figuring out the buttons on my tablet (Finally) I think I’m getting the hang of it 🙂
Check out my peacock that I drew recently:
Also, I submitted my peacock to Threadless, an online site for t-shirt designs, and is now in the process of voting. If I get enough votes, Threadless will fund it so people can purchase it!
This past semester, I made a pretty “edgy” video for my expressive typography class.
In the video, I explore the meaning of Feminism for me as a woman in my world. I have always had an insecurity with my body, which started probably the beginning of 7th grade. I have small breasts, bigger hips, a wider waist, a bump in my nose, which made me feel extremely unattractive. The perfect image of what a woman should look like has always haunted my mind, to the point of these thoughts becoming obsessive. This made my self-esteem decrease.
Now, after reflecting on who I am and how people actually perceive me, I see now that I am beautiful because I am my own person. This video is a reflection of my journey to finding my inner woman.
Let me present my new kinetic type piece: Im-Ur-Dream-Guy. Inspired by the many comments that men send women on Tinder, I decided to create a monologue of a woman’s “dream guy”, describing why he would be the perfect one for you.
If you click the link, magical things will happen! You will discover something truly exciting! YOU WON’T BE DISAPPOINTED!! (LOL I’m too excited for my own good… this is what happens when I share/spread the word about stuff that’s just awesome!)
Anyways, before I lose my mind, and readers for that matter, I’ll give a brief explanation of where the link will take you.
I mentioned in a previous post about one of my best friends from school, Moe. Along with his incredible talent of drawing and design, he also has a knack at video editing and production.
I will say no more and let you experience it for yourselves.
You may be wondering what the title of my post means today. Maybe I’m pinning up some clothes on a laundry line because the dryer is not working. OR I’m pinning up random posters of really attractive male celebrities in my room.
Well, none of these are true (although I wish I could pin up posters of attractive celebrities in my room but whatever).
What I’m referring to is Pinterest!
Pinterest is a website similar to Tumblr (another cite I often go on nowadays) where you can “pin” cites you like and share them with other people. With Pinterest, you can also “repin” cites and store them in different categories called boards. Within these boards, you can organize your favourite pins.
For example, on my Pinterest account, http://pinterest.com/nickyclarizio/ I have a few boards, like Cupcakes, Macarons, Cool Design Stuff, and Sushi. These boards can be anything you want!! How cool is that?!
I have been on Pinterest quite often lately just looking at other artists’ work and getting some new design ideas for upcoming projects.
